==NP-OB2 with certain cognate object verbs==
Cognate objects are usually parsed as NP-OB1. Examples are ''segja sögu'', ''drekka drykk (þorstadrykk)'', ''sjá sýn''.

There are, however, a few exceptions to this.

Verbs like HJÁLPA 'help' and BIÐJA (BÆNAR) 'pray' (and a few others) are treated as taking an NP-OB2, that is, the superficial object is NP-OB2 because these are treated as taking an abstract NP-OB1. See further details in [http://www.ling.upenn.edu/~beatrice/annotation/syn-const.htm#ob2_with_cognate_object_verbs PPCEME].

Other superficial objects of cognate object verbs are treated as NP-OB1.
