CP-THT, complement clause (icel. fallsetning) ...

<synttree> [CP-THT [C [að]][IP-SUB[hann-hafi-eitthvað]] ] </synttree>

For cases where a CP-THT is preceded by a PP with a pronominal object, and the pronominal object is interpreted as the CP-THT (the pronoun is just a placeholder for the that-clause), the expression is parsed with the CP-THT as the complement of the pronoun, as in the example below (following the PPCME2,PPCEME guidelines for "because" when written as two separate words, "be cause". Icelandic expressions that mean 'because' and should be parsed this way include af því, fyrir því, með því, vegna þess.

(PP (P-D fyrir-fyrir)
	      (NP (PRO-PNSD því-það)
		  (CP-THT (C að-að)
			  (IP-SUB (NP-SBJ (OTHER-XNSN annað-annar))
				  (BEP-IA3SP er-vera)
				  (NP-OB1 (N-NPNIC efni-efni)
					  (NP-POS (N-MSGIC bæklings-bæklingur) (D-DMSG þessa-þessi)))))))

Insert an empty C head when the word því means 'because':

	  (PP (P-D með-með)
	      (NP (PRO-PNSD því-það)
		  (CP-THT (C 0)
			  (IP-SUB (NP-SBJ (N-MSNIC bændurnir-bændurnir))
				  (BED-IA3PD voru-vera)
				  (ADVP (ADVC heldur-heldur))
				  (NP-PRD (Q-XMPN engir-enginn) (NS-MPNIC vinir-vinur))))))

Note that the CP-THT clause *immediately* follows the pronoun in this case.

If the pronoun and CP-THT were separated by some other constituent, then the CP-THT would be treated as an extraposed that clause: The object pronoun's NP is labeled e.g. "=1" with the index corresponding to the CP-THT, e.g. "CP-THT-1", in accordance with the guidelines for extraposed that-clauses in the PPCME2, PPCEME. An example follows:
