Appositive (ísl. viðurlag), as in Fagridalur [hinn eystri] 'Fagridalur the more.eastern', Bjarni bæjarstjóri 'Bjarni mayor', Henry [the king], John [the great], etc.
(NP-SBJ (NPR-N Bjarni-Bjarni) (NP-PRN (N-N bæjarstjóri-bæjarstjóri)))
If the title, here bæjarstjóri 'mayor', comes before the name, it doesn't project a phrase (cf. king Henry, doctor Livingstone).
(NP-SBJ (NPR-N bæjarstjóri-bæjarstjóri) (NPR-N Bjarni-Bjarni))
In cases where there is a word that is ambiguous between a demonstrative and a personal pronoun, followed by a noun and a suffixed determiner, our convention is to parse/tag this construction as a personal pronoun with an NP-PRN sister, consisting of the N and D.
( (IP-MAT (NP-SBJ (Q-N Enginn-enginn) (N-N nábúakrytur-nábúakrytur)) (BEDI var-vera) (ADVP (ADV þó-þó)) (PP (P með-með) (NP (PRO-D þeim-hann) (NP-PRN (NS-D bændu$-bóndi) (D-D $num-hinn)))) (. ;-;)) (ID 1850.PILTUR.NAR-FIC,.38))
Note that if a second determiner *follows* the N and D, even if this determiner is ambiguous in form between a personal pronoun and a demonstrative, we do not add the extra NP-PRN layer of structure.
More examples of this sort, i.e. a pronoun followed by a noun: við Jón 'we John', that is 'John and I'; þið strákarnir 'you the boys', that is 'you and the boys / the boys including you'; hann Brandur 'he Brandur', that is 'Brandur'.

(NP (PRO-N þið-þú) (NP-PRN (NS-N strákar$-strákur) (D-N $nir-hinn)))

AÐ NAFNI expressions
Appositive expressions involving the PP "AÐ NAFNI" are parsed as follows.
When the "að nafni X" (where X is a name) occurs adjacent to the NP it is describing, as in "menn að nafni Jón", "að nafn" is parsed as a PP inside the NP headed by "menn" and "Jón" is an NP-PRN inside the same NP headed by "menn", both attached at the same level. Thus, "að nafni Jón" is not parsed as a constituent, but "menn að nafni Jón og Gísli" is parsed as a constituent, as in the NP-SBJ in the example below:
( (IP-MAT (ADVP-TMP (ADV Þá-þá)) (RDDI urðu-verða) (ADJP (ADJ-N missáttir-missáttur)) (NP-SBJ (NS-N bræður-bróðir) (NUM-N tveir-tveir) (CONJP (CONJ og-og) (NX (NS-N konungar-konungur))) (, ,-,) (PP (P að-að) (NP (N-D nafni-nafni))) (NP-PRN (NPR-N Herodes-heródes) (CONJ og-og) (NPR-N Philippus-Philippus)) (, ,-,) (NP-PRN (NS-N synir-sonur) (NP-POS (NPR-G Herodis-heródes) (D-G þess-það) (, ,-,) (CP-REL (WNP-1 0) (C er-er) (IP-SUB (NP-SBJ *T*-1) (NP-2 (NS-D börnum-barn)) (VBDI lét-láta) (IP-INF (NP-SBJ *ICH*-2) (VB fara-fara))))))) (. .-.))
