Software

A few examples of software I have developed.

IceNLP
IceNLP is a general toolkit for processing Icelandic text. It has a Part-Of-Speech tagger, a shallow parser and a lemmatizer, among other things. I developed the lemmatizer and some other features and continue to work on the project.
Download IceNLP from Sourceforge
(free and open source, platform independent)

Context Sensitive Spellchecking for Icelandic
This project involves creating an Icelandic language package for LanguageTool, which is a general proofreading API and available as an extension for OpenOffice.org. Initial support for Icelandic is already part of LT and I continue to work on development.

VolumeTouch
Configures shortcuts to control the sound volume in Windows XP (does not work in Vista). By far the most popular program I've developed (some tens of thousands of users around the world). Requires the .NET Framework.
VolumeTouch website
(free as in beer but not open-source, WinXP only, needs .NET Framework)

Phonetic Transcription Tool
A web GUI to use IPA symbols without having special fonts installed. Generates images of IPA strings which you can copy/paste to your favorite word processor.

Phonetic Transcriber for Icelandic
A system which takes Icelandic text with usual spelling as input, and outputs a phonetic transcription of this text. Optionally marks syllable boundaries.

Tagged Icelandic Corpus
I have written some code for this project, including an Icelandic web GUI for a Xaira-based corpus.
